Fable II Review

Fable II was released on October 21st, 2008 in the United States. Developed by Lionhead Studios, this sequel takes you on a journey much like its predecessor. Full of deceit, betrayal, and puppies!
That’s right, in this second addition to the Fable lineup you are going to be in control of a pet dog. He’ll follow you around, bark when there is danger, and sniff out surprising treasures.
Fable takes the role playing genre to another level by doing away with level ups. Instead, you have a vast amount of characteristics to enhance, such as speed, strength, and magic spells.
The game takes place 500 years after the original Fable, in a colonial era. This time you will have the ability to play with more advanced weaponry, such as guns. The levels are more fully developed than the original, also noting that the areas are almost completely free roaming.
There are subtle differences in this sequel that you were not able to change in the first game, such as your sex. In Fable II you can be a male or a female, which adds greater customization and immersion into the character customization and gameplay.
Another great feature that they added in is a multiplayer co-op. Now a friend can join into battle at any point, and drop out at any point without any kind of penalty. This is one of the more looked for features for the game, as many players who went through Fable with friends watching, wished they could join in and share the experience.
The combat system is revamped, making targeting enemies easier, and creates a bit of strategy to time your next button mash for a hit combo. Another subtle feature added is the slow down of time to enhance the view of finishing moves, especially after a big combo.
Fable II also enhances families by adding the ability to have a child, and increase your family size. The child will follow traits of the player, along with traits of the spouse, and look like both of the parents.
All in all, the game looks to be a worthwhile sequel to the original. A definite gift for those RPG lovers in your family this Christmas. Towns from the original have thrived and turned into cities, and more enemies await on the horizon. If you haven’t bought it, at least rent it and give it a shot!
